In the state of Tamaulipas there are over 200 manufacturing companies in the booming automotive sector. A quarter of those companies can be found in Matamoros alone. Automotive suppliers such as Toyoda Gosei, Merit Mexico, Trico Products Corporation, Delphi Automotive PLC, and Dura de Mexico have discovered the benefits of manufacturing along the Mexico/U.S. border. The strategic location allows automotive manufacturers to quickly supply parts to automakers in the rapidly expanding North American market.
Renewable Energy
The emergence of wind power as a major alternative source of energy has propelled the growth of turbine suppliers over the past few years. Tamaulipas is now in the top three states in Mexico for wind power production and is home to the largest wind farm in Latin America. The growth in wind power in Northern Mexico provides an exciting opportunity for manufacturers in the Renewable Energy sector to serve a growing market and take advantage of an ample and skilled workforce.
Aerospace
With the development of the new SpaceX Commercial Orbital Launch Site in Brownsville, just across the border from Matamoros, there are exciting opportunities for aerospace manufacturers in our area. In 2019, Space X will start making 12 annual launches using its Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy vehicles. Los Palmares Industrial Park is just 30 miles south of this site and is the perfect location for aerospace component and equipment suppliers to take advantage of the future aerospace cluster in the region.
